Acting Out Kids

upcoming productions: 2018

Acting Out Productions presents two lively productions to kick off the summer: “Honk! Jr.” & “The Sky is Falling: The Chicken Little Story”

“Honk! Jr.”

Directed by Deirdre Budzyna

With a score by George Stiles and book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins), Honk! Jr. is a heartwarming celebration of being different that will delight every member of the family this summer! Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.  The full production of Honk! originally opened at North Shore Music Theatre in 2001, and was reconceived for young audiences into the production you will enjoy this June at the Firehouse.

There are two casts of all local students, so if you are coming to see a specific actor choose the correct performance (see below).  Honk! Jr is running in Repertory with “The Sky is Falling: The Chicken Little Story.”

Honk Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International, NY,NY.

“The Sky is Falling: The Chicken Little Story.”

Adapted and Directed by Jack Neary, Assistant Director Deirdre Budzyna

In the tradition of Acting Out productions such as THE NEW LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD and THE BIG SNORE comes THE SKY IS FALLING: the story of Chicken Little.  A rather nervous little chicken, who is bopped on the head from an object that fell from above, now believes that the sky is falling. When she brings this story to the critters at home, Swifty, the “best P.R. pig in the barnyard,” immediately sets out to make Chicken Little the hottest celebrity in the world. What follows is a fast-moving and very funny tale about truth and family. For kids, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and anybody who likes to laugh.  The Sky is Falling is running in Repertory with “Honk! Jr.”
